Lovers and Friends festival moves to August, becomes a single day, due to coronavirus – The Daily Breeze

Goldenvoice has set a new date for another of its large music festivals that was affected by the novel coronavirus pandemic.

The sold-out Lovers & Friends Festival, a multiple-stage hip-hop and R&B show originally scheduled for the grounds at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson with twin editions May 8 and 9, has been scaled back to one day at the venue, set for Saturday, Aug. 8.

The event includes performances by hip-hop and R&B artists such as Ms. Lauryn Hill, Usher, Ludacris, Lil Jon and TLC.

Other artists on the Lovers & Friends lineup include Jhene Aiko, Megan Thee Stallion, Summer Walker, Doja Cat, Nelly, T-Pain, Lil Kim, Brandy, Ja Rule, Fat Joe, Eve, Ginuwine, SWV, Saweetie, Ma$e, Trick Daddy, Dru Hill, Montell Jordan and more.

Last week, the concert promoter also announced a new date for its sold-out Cruel World Festival, which has been rescheduled for Saturday, Sept. 12, at the same Carson venue.

The postponement of the show came after Gov. Gavin Newsom’s March 11 call for all large gatherings of people or more to be canceled at least through at least the end of March.

Goldenvoice’s two largest events, the Coachella and Stagecoach music festivals, which were slated for April, were also rescheduled for October.
