Remy Ma & Papoose discuss the upcoming VH1 special, “Love & Hip-Hop: It’s a Love Thing,” which features many of the franchise’s most notable couples. The hip-hop couple also reveal they’re working on an advice book for relationships. (Jan. 31)
REMY MA: “It’s a Love Thing,” it’s pretty much– it’s so cool because when they first asked us to come on and do it, you know, I was like, what is this? What’s happening? What’s going on? But it really was one of the more fun things that we’ve done from home. It was something that when people see it, I think they’re going to leave it wanting to be up under their loved one.
We really, really wanted this for so long. And he told me that he would be waiting for me. And there he is.
PAPOOSE: My favorite part about the show that’s coming up now is our wedding clips. You know, the most memorable moments I had on that show was them documenting our wedding. Because due to circumstances beyond our control, we were unable to have our big wedding, you know what I’m saying? So the fact that we were able to do it in front of the world for everyone to see on television was a blessing, man. And I would never forget those episodes.
REMY MA: For me, even though I loved the wedding as well, you know, the moments with our daughter, when we were able to like show the world like, look, we had a setback. Y’all watched me cry. Y’all watched me break down. Y’all watched me sitting in the hospital. But look. Look at this little bundle of amazingness–
PAPOOSE: [? Golden ?] [? child. ?]
REMY MA: –that, you know, that came from this. And she’s just so innocent. And I just love it.
PAPOOSE: We have been both able to influence a lot of our close friends and family members to settle down.
REMY MA: –so many of our friends have gotten– and to get married. Our wedding was the first wedding that I’d ever been to. And, yeah, and, since then, we’ve been to so many of our friends’ weddings. Like, I can’t even think of a number off the top, but close friends, people that were at our wedding that’s like, oh, OK, well, Rem and Pap did it and we see how they are. You know, it is what it is.
And they’ve definitely called us, in the industry, family friends, people, childhood friends, they all call us. And we try to give our best advice that we can. Because we don’t have all the answers. But we’ve been married almost 13 years. So we know a lot.
PAPOOSE: So we just– we speak from experience. Oh, we’re working on a book. We’re working on a book where I’m going to give–
REMY MA: –his side, I give my side.
PAPOOSE: –10 ways to treat your lady like a queen, flip side, 10 ways to treat your man like a king.
